This position is responsible to supervise and manage the Quality Control (QC) inspectors who perform inspections and tests at the Piketon, and vendor/supplier facilities. Reports directly to the Quality Assurance (QA) Manager and is to ensure that the inspection and test requirements are met in accordance with the Quality Assurance Program Description (QAPD), U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations, and implementation procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
- Attends status meetings and stays abreast of day-to-day activities to ensure adequate oversight
- Assigns QC inspection of manufacturing, construction, or operations activities as needed to support plant or project schedules
- Assigns QC oversight and monitoring of manufacturing, construction, or operations activities as needed to support plant or project schedules
- Ensures On-the-Job training and qualification of QC inspector candidates, as needed
- Provides direction to QC inspectors on documenting nonconforming conditions; reinspecting reworked or repaired items to verify completion and effectiveness of corrective actions; and closing them out as appropriate
- Serves as a Level III Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Inspector, when assigned
- Coordinate, develops, reviews, and approves QC procedures, ensuring they meet the necessary standards and specifications for specific applications, as needed
- Possesses a deep understanding of relevant codes, standards, and specifications used in NDT, such as those from ASNT, ASME and ASTM
- Train and oversees other NDT personnel, ensuring they are qualified to perform their duties according to established procedures
- Coordinates supplier selection and performance evaluation activities with the QA Manager or designee
- Assigns QC inspectors to support Assessments, Audits, Readiness Assessments, Independent Readiness Reviews, and Operational Readiness Reviews
- Serves on audit teams as needed
- Serve as an Investigation Team member when assigned
- Interfaces with regulators, such as the NRC or DOE, during inspections and assessments
- Performs other related duties as assigned and as specified in QA and QC procedures
- Maintains knowledge of and demonstrates ability to perform work safely in accordance with all approved safety policies, procedures and applicable regulations and performs assigned duties in a safe manner
- Other duties and tasks as assigned by management
Decision Making and Impact:
Interviews, hires, and coordinates training of QC inspector candidates as needed.

Position Requirements:
- Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q" level security clearance
Minimum Education/Experience
- Associate degree in a related field or equivalent Quality and Supervisory experience. Typical experience ranges from 4 - 6 years of QC experience in an industrial or nuclear setting
- Experience in a quality control role for design and construction and knowledge of field construction activities.
- Certification in two or more of the following:
- Receiving, Dimensional, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Inspection
- Visual Weld Inspection (AWS CWI preferred)
- Leak Testing (Helium Leak Testing preferred)
- Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Radiographic, or Ultrasonic Inspection
- Requires proficient computer skills, such as but not limited to, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Adobe to process records and generate reports, charts, spreadsheets, and presentations
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Preference given to candidates currently possessing a DOE “Q" or “L" clearance
- Previous experience at NRC regulated site
- BS-Science or Technical Education
- American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certifications
- Lead NQA-1 Auditor Certification
- Applicable Quality Assurance Industry Knowledge including NRC/DOE Regulations (NQA-1 and DOE O 414.1D)
- Military Experience

In addition, once employe, employees will become part of a random drug testing program and may also be tested in the event of any incident causing injury or causing damage to property, or if it is determined that there is a reasonable suspicion the employee is under the influence of drugs or alcohol. This position will require preemployment background check on the part of the Company and in order to receive a DOE security clearance, a background investigation by the Federal government. Subsequent Federal government reinvestigations may be required.
