B.L. Harbert International is seeking a Building Automation and Controls Systems Manager to join our Washington, DC office. This role directly reports to the Mechanical Director and focuses on the technical oversight, procurement, and field support of building automation systems, fuel oil control systems, and fire alarm systems for international government construction projects.

The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in low voltage mechanical-related systems, capable of mentoring teams, driving design integration, and providing hands-on support at job sites around the world.

Responsibilities:

- Serve as the technical lead for Building Automation Systems (BAS), Fuel Oil Control Systems, and Fire Alarm Systems across all phases of design, procurement, and construction.
- Review and guide system design, specifications, and drawings to ensure compliance with U.S. government contract requirements and project needs.
- Author and review scopes of work and subcontractor deliverables for relevant systems.
- Perform system takeoffs (BOQ/BOM) and support procurement efforts for materials, devices, and control equipment.
- Lead troubleshooting and issue resolution for BAS, fuel oil controls, and fire alarm systems during installation and commissioning.
- Travel to international project sites to provide installation support, training, and audits.
- Mentor junior team members and field personnel on system operations and best practices.
- Stay current with evolving technologies, system certifications, and government standards.

Job Characteristics:
- Strong understanding of HVAC control sequences, integration of mechanical systems, and emergency power coordination.
- Ability to work independently and make technical decisions in the field.
- Excellent communication skills, with a focus on training and mentoring.
- Comfortable working in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.

Requirements:
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally up to 24 weeks per year.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in BAS, fire alarm, or fuel oil control systems (design, installation, or commissioning).

Preferences:
- Experience with U.S. DoD or DoS construction projects.
- Familiarity with industry-standard BAS platforms, control protocols, and integration with SCADA systems.
- Working knowledge of fire alarm code compliance (NFPA 72) and fuel oil system design.
- Familiarity with IT networks, switch programming, and server integration for low voltage systems.
