We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quarry General Manager to oversee operations for our four quarry sites.
Job Summary:
The Quarry Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of quarry operations, ensuring safe and efficient extraction, processing, and distribution of materials. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to manage people, budgets, and production targets effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety:
Demonstrate commitment to promote a culture where safety and risk are part of the first consideration of every decision and all people are responsible for the safety of the team.
Promote and support GMQ's Good Catch platform where every team member has a voice and contributes to safety and safe and healthy work.
Team Management:
Supervise and mentor all quarry team members.
Develop the team to maximize their potential within the organization.
Operations Management:
Oversee daily quarry operations to meet production targets efficiently.
Ensure all safety protocols and operational procedures are followed.
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Support company safety initiatives and identify areas for improvement.
Conduct site inspections and risk assessments to maintain safety and compliance.
Production Optimization:
Monitor and analyze production data to identify areas for improvement.
Implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency and productivity.
Budget Management:
Develop and manage budgets for quarry operations, including costs related to extraction, processing, and maintenance.
Coordination and Communication:
Collaborate with the team and all stakeholders for planning and execution.
Quality Control:
Ensure the implementation and monitoring of quality control measures to ensure products meet specifications and customer requirements.
Reporting and Analysis:
Prepare performance reports and provide insights to senior management.
Sales & Customer Relations:
Interact with customers to promote sales and address concerns.
Provide technical product information as needed.
Stay informed about market developments, including competition, customer trends, and pricing.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Ability to connect with and care for team members and their safety and concerns.
Strong knowledge of quarrying methods, equipment, and extraction techniques.
Familiarity with industry safety and environmental regulations.
Proven leadership and management skills with experience supervising teams.
Proficiency in budgeting and financial management.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for team and customer interactions.
Basic understanding of mechanical functions to help with identifying issues and addressing repairs.
Understanding of explosives and blasting procedures.
