Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Field Leadership: Supervise daily activities of mechanical/HVAC crews, providing direction, scheduling, and support to ensure productivity and adherence to the construction schedule.
- Project Coordination: Coordinate HVAC installation with other trades to avoid conflicts and ensure smooth workflow. Participate in daily coordination meetings with project teams and subcontractors.
- Plan Execution: Interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and shop drawings to ensure accurate system layout and installation.
- Quality Control: Perform regular inspections to ensure work meets or exceeds project specifications and industry standards. Address quality issues promptly.
- Safety Oversight: Maintain a strong safety culture on site; enforce all safety protocols and participate in safety meetings and audits. Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
- Progress Monitoring: Track and report daily progress, manpower, and material usage. Communicate potential issues or delays to the project team.
- Material & Equipment Management: Manage delivery, storage, and installation of HVAC equipment and materials to ensure availability and minimize waste or damage.
- Problem Solving: Troubleshoot field issues, make real-time decisions, and propose solutions that keep the project on track.
- Mentorship & Training: Coach and develop less experienced field personnel, helping to build a strong, capable crew.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate daily logs, reports, and field documentation. Assist with RFI responses and field-generated change orders when needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in mechanical or HVAC construction supervision on commercial or industrial projects.
- Must be able to pass a federal background check.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems including ductwork, piping, and HVAC equipment installation.
- Proven ability to lead field crews and subcontractors effectively in a dynamic construction environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical plans, and specifications.
- Solid understanding of scheduling, productivity, material tracking, and field coordination.
- OSHA 30 Certification preferred.
- Proficiency with digital tools (e.g., iPads, construction software, daily logs) is a plus.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Projects involving healthcare, education, manufacturing, or high-rise commercial construction.
- Familiarity with lean construction principles or production tracking tools (e.g., Last Planner).
- Experience with BIM coordination and layout verification in the field.
