AMTS is currently seeking a Design Engineer to join our team on a long-term, fulfilling career opportunity that is remote, but requires the ideal candidate to reside in San Antonio, TX for possible onsite work. This position is currently contingent upon the negotiation and award of a government contract set to be awarded in July 2025.
AMTS-D&D Joint Venture provides manufacturing solutions, specializing in design, machining, fabrication and assembly of aerospace ground support equipment for the commercial and defense industry. Our team brings nearly 40 years of experience serving the aerospace industry. The AMTS-D&D JV was formed to deliver diverse and comprehensive manufacturing solutions to support the needs of the warfighter. Our subject matter experts bring to bear problem solving techniques you would expect from a large business, only we do it with small business agility. Our workforce is comprised of both civilian and former military members who bring institutional knowledge and experience together to produce customer specific, exceptional results.
Duties include, but not limited to:
Developing Navy Common Support Equipment (CSE) and Peculiar Support Equipment (PSE).
Support Equipment Recommendation Data (SERD) development and management.
Contracts Data Requirement List (CDRL) and Data Item Description (DID) for support equipment development.
Working with GD&T, CAD software, and other technical engineering software
Being an extrovert, Presenting ideas, communicating and providing diplomatic correspondence with joint venture colleagues
Requirements
Minimum Candidate Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems, or Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred, but not required). Candidate must be a US Citizen
Candidate must have 5+ years' experience with the following:
Design engineering, ideally within DoD, aerospace, or defense contracting environments.
Design and development of support equipment (CSE/PSE).
Design of military systems, aircraft systems, or weapons systems integration.
Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, NX).
GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
FMEA, thermal analysis, and structural simulations.
Knowledge of DoD acquisition processes (e.g., MIL-HDBK-881, DFARS).
Earned Value Management (EVM) and systems engineering lifecycle.
Configuration management and document control systems (e.g., Windchill, Teamcenter).
Ability to work in cross-functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, logistics, program management).
Leading design reviews and participating in technical interchange meetings (TIMs).
Demonstrated project ownership from requirements through fielding(design, development, test, logistics documentation).
Desired skills/experience/certifications
PE License (Professional Engineer)
Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing knowledge
Security Clearance – Active DoD Secret or higher
