PBSGC is looking for a dynamic person to join our team as a hydrographic surveyor that is willing to work in the Louisianan area. The ideal candidate will operate and maintain a survey vessel while performing hydrographic surveys on the Mississippi River and Inland Waterways. Responsibilities:
- Responsible for calibrating GPS, ladder sensor, and hydrographic sounding devices to ensure accurate positioning of dredge to obtain accurate surveys.
- Perform calibration checks and monitor equipment.
- Responsible for assigned assets including survey vessel, survey equipment and electronics.
- Proficiently use Hypack, hydrographic survey software.
- Proficiently use U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' (COE) Resident Management System (RMS)
- Precisely communicate with COE to obtain dredging orders and specific information to complete dredging assignments.
- Perform daily reports and additional required written communication.
- Thorough knowledge of the project plans and specifications.
- Must maintain the highest level of safety in all aspects of the job
- Promotes job site safety, encourages safe work practices, identifies and corrects job site hazards immediately.
- Support and encourage team members' learning and development.
- Additional role will include serving as an alternate SSHO.
Qualifications
- Experience with working in a marine environment on the Inland Waterways and the Mississippi River is not required but beneficial.
- Knowledge of marine navigation systems.
- Must possess proficient oral and written communication skills.
- Must possess proficient mathematics skills.
- Must possess proficient time management skills, leadership skills, and problem-solving skills.
- OSHA 30 beneficial but not required. PBSG will assist in obtaining this certification.
- CQM certificate - Quality Control beneficial but not required. PBSG will assist in obtaining this certification.
- Boaters Education Certificate beneficial but not required. PBSG will assist in obtaining this certification.
Requirements:
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must meet one of the following requirements:
- Minimum 2 years' hydrographical surveying experience
- Minimum 2-year degree in computer science
- Degree or certification in surveying
- Minimum 2 years' survey boat operator experience.
- Willing to live onboard the Dredge Wallace McGeorge for 2 weeks on and 1 week off.
- Must be proficient in Excel, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat
- Must complete and be deemed Fit for Duty a Functional Capacity Exam (FCU).
