ROCK - Alarm System Mechanic II

Perform service-related duties to maintain existing fire alarm systems in a campus setting. This includes system repair and periodic testing & inspections in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications, local AHJ requirements, and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA 72 & 25) standards.

Essential Duties

Respond to service requests to maintain/repair existing addressable and conventional fire alarm systems in a campus setting.
Troubleshooting and resolving system troubles as needed.
Troubleshooting of FACP components and limited FACP component repair may also be needed
Replacement/repair of SLC and NAC field devices as needed
Replacement/repair of SLC and NAC field wiring as needed
Perform periodic testing and inspections in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications, local AHJ requirements and NFPA 72 & 25 standards
Troubleshooting and repair of any deficiencies noted during periodic testing and inspections
Work with other fire alarm integrated building equipment as needed. This includes but is not limited to sprinkler systems, HVAC and access control
Be able to work with and effectively communicate with other contractors as needed.
Ensures customer satisfaction by continual follow up, effective communication, and 100% final checkout of service orders you are assigned
Perform other duties as assigned

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Be able to work well within a team and be self-motivated

Ability to work on or learn to work on other low voltage systems such as intrusion, video surveillance, networking & access control

Required Qualifications

Possess and maintain a NICET II or higher in Fire Alarm or Sprinkler certification programs
Have 2 years minimum experience working with fire alarm systems
Must be able to retain an Iowa or Illinois license pertaining to fire alarm maintenance
Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
Must have a safe driving record, as defined by company policy, to operate a company vehicle
Must successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screening
Be able to perform frequent bending, squatting, crouching, reaching above shoulders, kneeling, climbing and pushing/carrying of up to 40 pounds
Be able to be certified for confined space work if needed
Withstand exposure to cleaning, maintenance and repair products commonly associated with electronics work
Be able to work at heights from a variety ladders or lift & work near water
Must be able to work in any inclement weather conditions as needed
Must be able to work within an on-call rotation and respond within the required timeframe
