ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following: (Other duties may be assigned, including but not limited to cross training and housekeeping. Responsibilities also include attention to safety according to all safety rules.
- Confers with Technical Lead of Coatings to determine priorities for projects; follows determined priorities for work.
- Diagnoses pumps and paint equipment in operation using proper tools, methods, and/or testing equipment.
- Cleans and assembles spray guns for pipe coating; ensures spray guns are always ready.
- Understands functional capabilities of all pumps and paint equipment to identify root causes of issues.
- Dismantles devices to gain access to remove, repair, or replace defective parts.
- Inspects used parts to determine if they need to be cleaned or replaced once the problem is identified; cleans or replaces part and reassembles devices.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by centering, aligning, balancing or modifying equipment as needed using appropriate calibration tools and/or techniques.
- Starts devices to test for performance; maintains log of performance tests by device and date.
- Keeps inventory of replacement parts and equipment.
- Prepares purchase requests for Technical Lead when parts need to be ordered.
- Understands all aspects of the blasting and spraying processes and procedures; provides feedback to modifications/changes to processes and procedures when relevant.
- Is competent to perform all duties of paint/coat operator.
- Orders, issues, and manages all MRO inventory and supplies.
- Inspects the equipment daily (pumps and spray equipment) using checklist; files daily checklists for future reference.
- Successfully completes internal and external training and certifications, in a timely manner, as deemed necessary by management to perform required duties.

Education and/or Experience: Two-year college or technical school degree or a high school diploma/GED plus a minimum of two years of industrial painting experience and a minimum of two years pump experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend breakdown schematics for fluid transfer equipment, simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to supervisors and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: Ability to enter data into existing computer software, following on-screen prompts or written instructions.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None Required
Other Skills and Abilities: Mechanical schematic and blueprint reading; read and interpret safety instructions, operating instructions and general work instructions. Ability to perform multi-skilled tasks and keep well organized.
Other Qualifications: Must pass Pump Aptitude test. Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
