1st Shift Position
Pay Range: $28 - $44
To be considered for hire, applicants must take and pass an electrical and mechanical aptitude test.
The Electrical Maintenance Technician installs, sets up, maintains, and repairs systems, apparatus, and components of industrial machinery and equipment associated with the production and fabrication of pipe and pipe components by performing the following duties. This is a multi-skilled position, with electrical/electronic maintenance making up the primary essential duties.
- Follows all safety, policies, and PPE rules including, but not limited to: Confined Space Entry, LOTO, Fall Protection.
- Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
- Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, lighting fixtures, control systems and PLC's.
- Tests malfunctioning machinery. Discusses malfunction with supervisor to diagnose malfunction, using schematics, diagrams, manuals, PLC programs and appropriate test equipment.
- Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, motors, position sensing devices, bearing, and wiring.
- Properly documents all activities and work orders per maintenance department guidelines.
- Installs special functional and structural parts in devices as instructed for project support.
- Performs preventive maintenance by lubricating and cleaning parts, replacing components, and following other PM procedures.
- Provides backup support for retooling activities.
- Coordinates with maintenance mechanics to accomplish overall plant maintenance requirements.
- Perform other duties as instructed by management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Must be able to write simple correspondence.
- Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisors and other employees.
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Must be able to compute ratio and percent and to interpret bar graphs.
- Must be able to read and interpret linear and circumference measurements using tape measures and calipers.
- Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Must be able to read, understand, interpret, and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Must be able to enter data into existing computer software, following on-screen prompts or written instructions.
- Must be able to read blueprints.
- Must be able to perform electrical/electronic schematic interpretation.
- Must be able to read and interpret safety instructions, operating instructions, and general work instructions.
- Must be able perform multi-skilled tasks including basic electrical repair and wiring, mechanical maintenance, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical drives, and advanced electrical controls and automation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance Certification preferred.
- Knowledge of electronic and electro-hydraulic systems preferred.
- Welding Knowledge preferred.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS
- The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear.
- The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance.
- The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
