We are seeking an experienced and strategic Financial Planning and Analysis Director to join our team. This role oversees the organization's financial planning activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial strategies. The Financial Planning and Analysis Director will lead the Financial Planning and Analysis team in financial analysis, modeling, and reporting to ensure effective financial management and support the company's business objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education/Experience/Certifications:
- Must have a bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, statistics, and/or finance from an accredited four-year college or university. Proof of degree required (transcript or diploma).
- Must have eight years of work experience performing work directly dealing with the concepts and principles of financial planning, modeling, budgeting, forecasting and analysis including prior supervisory/management experience.
- Preferred Qualification - Post graduate degree in accounting, finance, or tax from an accredited four-year college or university. Proof of degree required (transcript or diploma).
- Preferred Qualification - Prior experience in Treasury and financial functions, including budgeting, credit analysis, negotiating and maintaining credit lines and relationships with lending institutions.
- Preferred Qualification - Professional certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Financial Modeling and Valuation Analyst (FMVA).
- Preferred Qualification - Prior experience supervising employees AND/OR prior experience in a financial role at a manufacturing company.
Skills & Abilities:
- High degree of independent judgment, initiative, and tact when collaborating with various departments to solve problems and implement solutions.
- Proficiency in Essbase, Planning and Budgeting or other similar applications.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, work under stress, and demonstrate attention to detail while meeting deadlines.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Advanced proficiency in electronic spreadsheets and the ability to research and implement new accounting and financial systems.
- Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to mentor others and coordinate work activities across teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Financial Planning and Analysis Director will collaborate with management to develop and implement AMERICAN's vision, mission, values, and strategic plan, while identifying cost-saving opportunities to maintain financial stability. This role includes analyzing business and financial developments that may impact the organization and leveraging resources to drive efficiency.
Additionally, the Director will monitor and analyze organizational budgets, perform forecasting and reporting, and develop key performance indicators to measure the financial health of the organization. This role involves reviewing financial performance against budgeted estimates, developing financial models, and supporting management in making informed business decisions.
The Director will lead the financial analysis, modeling, and reporting efforts, ensuring efficient financial operations. This includes making strategic recommendations for investment, sourcing, and cost reduction, as well as guiding key business decisions. The Director will also manage personnel actions, contribute to strategic planning, and establish departmental policies and procedures to support long-term financial objectives.
The Financial Planning and Analysis Director will oversee confidential financial records, ensuring proper retention and compliance. Additionally, the role includes supervising and mentoring team members, ensuring timely and accurate task completion, and supporting merger and acquisition activities, including due diligence and legal requirements.
