GENERAL SUMMARY:
Directs and coordinates the activities of employees engaged in the cement lining of pipe where cement is applied to the interior of pipe. Performs the essential functions/responsibilities personally or through direct supervision of hourly employees assigned to crew.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Includes the following: (other duties may be assigned, including but not limited to cross training and housekeeping; responsibilities also include attention to safety according to all safety rules):
Possesses keen knowledge of the ASWP safety policies, conducts toolbox meetings, investigates accidents or incidents, identifies and creates corrective action, and supports ASWP safety initiatives.
At the direction of the Manager of Coating & Lining, prepares daily operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications for the Cement Lining crew.
Reviews Cement Lining production and operating reports and suggest solutions to Manager regarding operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization. Formally reports to Maintenance on equipment issues in the form of emails and work requests for equipment repairs.
Trains and assists hourly employees as needed to ensure adequate quality and productivity.
Confers with Cement Lining crew operators to determine progress of work and to provide information on changes in processing methods received from Manager of Coatings and Linings.
Determines amounts of stock and supplies required for operations, based on production schedules, and requisitions materials from purchasing department. 8. Interprets specifications and assigns duties.
Recommends and implements, under direction of management, measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Suggests changes to working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of Cement Lining crew.
Reads customer specification and drawings to determine position of holdbacks, and other specifications for setting up pipe for cement lining operations.
Resolves employee issues and complaints or submits unresolved matters to Management and/or Human Resources for further resolution.
Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
Repairs or replaces defective parts, with supervision.
Performs preventive maintenance by lubricating and cleaning parts, replaces components.
Collects and organizes all paperwork relative to Cement Lining operations.
Performs other tasks as instructed by supervision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED and two to four years related experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before managers or groups of employees. Ability to read, understand, and interpret specification boundary sheets.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute ratio and percent and to interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to read, understand, interpret, and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: Must be able to operate computer-controlled panels, including reading and interpreting console indicators and gauges; knowledge of Manufacturing software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software preferred. This position will interact with the Division business system or ERP, JD Edwards. Will also spend significant amounts of time in Excel.

Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English. Ability to read, understand, and interpret part drawings.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS/TOOLS USED: A broad range of equipment is used in the coating of steel pipe; the following list is meant to be a general list but is not all inclusive. Thermometer, hand tools, jack hammer, 2" water hose, impact gun, 4 " grinder, overhead crane, cement mixing and lining machine operations control consoles.
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. This job will require being active and covering a lot of ground on foot throughout the shift. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leads and directs the activities of employees in the Cement Lining Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities under the direction of the department manager and in accordance with the organization's policies, mission, vision, core values, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Makes recommendations regarding hiring, termination, and corrective actions with department manager making the final decision.
