Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer with a background in Industrial and Commercial Construction Project Management, and experience in estimating Mechanical/HVAC/Plumbing systems to join our team as a manager and leader. In this critical role, you will be responsible primarily for building a team of HVAC and plumbing/piping technicians, fitters, and welders to pursue industrial/commercial mechanical contracting new-build and maintenance contracts throughout the state of Alabama and the Southeast Region of the US to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of facility mechanical infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Implement business plans to build out and grow the mechanical construction division of the company via new construction proposal development/bidding, contract awards/execution, targeted annual revenue/profit growth, and strategic hiring of key personnel.
- Lead project estimating, preconstruction, and project management activities related to mechanical construction projects.
- Respond to project related assignments addressing construction, maintenance, repair, and inspection needs of mechanical systems per owner contract.
- Direct and/or perform preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on equipment to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance, if applicable.
- Conduct special services such as leading efforts to troubleshoot mechanical issues, diagnose equipment malfunctions, and perform corrective actions, if applicable.
- Lead efforts to perform all required mechanical testing in accordance with applicable codes and equipment certification processes.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all mechanical project work performed.
- Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to all safety protocols.
- Collaborate with the owner, other general or subcontractor staff to ensure seamless coordination of mechanical construction and maintenance activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university required.
- PE and/or MBA preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial and/or industrial Mechanical, HVAC, Plumbing, and Utility construction and maintenance.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in estimating mechanical packages for new construction projects.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in managing teams of HVAC technicians/welders/pipe fitters.
- Strong understanding of applicable construction codes and safety regulations.
- Experience with large industrial and commercial HVAC and Mechanical construction/maintenance programs for mechanical equipment including boilers, chillers, rooftop units, split systems, air handling units, heat pumps, colling towers, and VAV systems.
- Experience with utility piping construction and fire protection highly desired.
- Proficiency in building, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical systems of all types.
