Meyer Engineers is looking for a QA/QC Representative in the Metairie, LA area. Employees in this classification follow standard procedures in documenting construction projects and inspecting job activities to verify they are in compliance with project plans and specifications. The inspector will be responsible for completing a daily report documenting the labor and equipment used by the contractor to include a description of the work performed and any pertinent conversations with the contractor. The inspector will assist with office work such as plotting cross-sections and computing earthwork quantities. The inspector will report directly to the Project Manager.
Quality Assurance Representative needed for USACE projects including levees, armoring, rock eddies and flood protection from north Baton Rouge to the mouth of the Mississippi River. Qualifications include implementing construction programs including meetings and appropriate documentation. Other duties include monitoring and reporting on Contractor's Quality Control Program, performing daily safety reviews, tracking schedule of values for pay estimates and accounting for change orders and submittal files. Proper interaction with USACE Project Engineers, Area Engineers and Contract Division personnel a plus.
DUTIES
Essential Functions of the Position
1. Inspect work in progress to ensure conformance with plans and specifications
2. Inspect workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards
3. Maintains required reports of construction inspection activities
4. Prepares sketches of construction installations that deviate from plans and incorporates changes into master plans
5. Inspects and test materials incorporated into the project.
6. Interprets specifications as related to materials and workmanship
7. Drives company vehicle safely to and from worksites.
8. Conduct all work activities in compliance with Thompson Holdings, Inc. Health, Safety & Environmental Management System, safety policies & procedures, safety execution plans and Job Safety and Environmental Analyses.
9. Attend and pro-actively participate in monthly safety meetings, project toolbox safety meetings and safety moments.
10. Ensures on time and regular attendance

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements
1. High school diploma or equivalent required. Four year degree in Civil Engineering preferred.
2. Five (5) plus years experience in construction inspection, or a combination of experience and education in a related field of study.
3. Valid Driver's License.
4. Computer skills that include Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Physical Requirements
1. Ability to work in the outside elements of the field up to 100% of the time
2. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs
3. Required to remain standing for a minimum of eight (8) hours per day
4. Must be able to bend, stoop and climb on a ladder
5. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing
6. Ability to drive a company vehicle to and from job sites
